batch 01 — production update

preordering hardware from a small studio is an act of faith, and faith deserves receipts. as of this week, the injection mold tooling for the chassis is paid for and cutting at our partner in taoyuan. the anodization samples came back — three creams, and we picked the warmest one, the one that looks like good paper.

1,042 of 1,500 batch 01 units are reserved as of this post. deposits sit untouched in escrow until we ship; that is the deal and it stays the deal. the stats page on this site reads from the same dashboard we look at every morning, so you are seeing what we see.

the honest risks, as always: the display supplier's lead time is the long pole, and we have one revision of the main board left before we freeze. spring 2027 still holds. if it slips, you will read it here first, in a post like this one, with the same numbers we have.
